Is There Any Difference Between A Pet Hair Trimmer And A People Hair Trimmer? The Pet Trimmers Are So Costly.

The actual machine is the same and quality varies with price. Wahl is the brand (the Sterling series) I use at work (as a hairdresser) and I love them. You might be able to find a reasonably priced set on Ebay. Good luck!
ps.. I didn’t know the pet ones ran at a higher speed, learn something new everyday! Another tip, remember to lubricate your blades before trimming, keep the blades as free of hair as possible while clipping (they bog down when clogged) and if using for an extended period of time, buy a can of cooling lubricant to spray on the blades periodically during the cut.

The speed of the motors on pet clippers have to run higher. The blades for the dog clippers which you have to change up for different dog cuts. I never had any luck with the plastic guards for cutting dog hair. The plastic guards work okay for people hair, unless the hair is really thick and wavy.

I have a sheepdog and use a cheep peopel trimmer I picked up at Wal-Mart. It works fine for my dog.

essentially they are the same device except pet trimmers tend to have stronger motors… using a human hair trimmer may burn the motor out or cause it to overheat and blow a circuit
compare pet trimmers to human ones to see how strong the motors are
don’t bother buying a human one at a drugstore for under $50… they are garbage and not very sharp
