Where are the Cat Grooming Schools

Although pet groomers learn basic cat grooming procedures when taking their grooming course, many of us want to learn more and our day has finally come. Seriously, there really is a cat-specific training available from a school with a strong emphasis on correct handling and product usage.

Cats are so different from dogs in their emotional and behavior makeup. Their coats and skin react differently from dogs and you have to be aware of those issues. The method you use in handling your cat clients will make or break your success in providing them with the best service available.

The National Cat Groomers Institute of America, Inc. was “formed in 2007 for the purpose of setting and maintaining cat grooming standards, providing training and education, and awarding certifications when training requirements are met.” (Quoted directly from their website at http://www.nationalcatgroomers.com)

The NCGIA is the first of its kind grooming school devoted solely to the feline client. Take a skip over to their website and see all they have to offer. It’s an option that has not existed for those of us in the pet care industry.

Pet groomers, up until now, learned cat grooming at a dog grooming school or if they were fortunate to have access to a cat show and a breeder or two, they might learn some tips from these mentors.

Do you want to further your education and provide a much needed service for cat owners? Here’s your chance to look into a potential training program.

Please note: We are not recommending or endorsing this school or any school for the pet grooming industry. We have absolutely no affiliation with NCGIA or their founder/owner. We only bring this information to you for your review and investigation. As always, do your due diligence in researching any school, product, or nutritional advice.
