How Do You Know If Your Dog Should Be Groomed?

I know this probably is a stupid question, but I am aware that some dogs don’t get groomed really or don’t need it. We really don’t know what kind of dog ours is. His hair does seem to have gotten a little longer at 7 mos now. He hasn’t shown signs of shedding yet. If we groom him, could that cause him to start shedding?

If he’s not shedding, it could be because the hair’s getting caught in itself and he’s matting.
EVERY dog needs regular brushing, even the short-haired ones. It keeps the coat clean and matt-free, removes excess undercoat, and helps to stimulate the skin for healthy skin and coat. They also need regular nail trimming and ear care.
Why not consult with a few groomers and see what sort of grooming they would recommend for your dog?

Does he seem like long haired dog?
Taking him to be groomed wont cause him to shed… and you can ask your groomer if you should cut the hair or not… they have a general rule of thumb.
    Best of luck

Grooming will not cause him to shead. Your best bet is getting him groomed at 12 months when he has his adult coat in or if he gets knots in his fur. GOOD LUCK!
