Lorraine the birds love dog hair to make their nests! I place mine out there and they fight over it. LOL
So yup it’s a good thing to do! :)

    Hi Lorraine!
Yes, birds love using dog hair to make nests, I often saw the birds pick up the hair off the ground after I had clipped our dogs outside. Take note of nests in the trees too, lots of hair of all sorts in them, fascinating, really!

The lady that grooms my dogs often places balls of dog hair and fur out side in spring for other animals to take for nesting material. It is well insulated so baby birds and other babies will stay warm if weather changes.

Dog hair is very good for lining nest and the birds will not care if it smells of dog or not, they will use it if you leave it lying round.

some will take it but some will not like it and leave the nest so it really depends on the bird
