Can My Dog Eat Rice With Ground Beef Everyday?

I have a 7 month old chihuahua mixed with something else, I don’t know. Anyways, my mom has fed her a bowl of rice mixed with groundbeef EVERYDAY for the past 2 months. She does not eat her dry food much at all anymore. So basically, rice with ground beef is her diet everyday, along with some of those nutrition bones every now and then. I was wondering if this is healthy? I keep telling her it’s not, but she does not listen.

not exactly healthy – it doesn’t sound like a very balanced diet and she’ll gain weight easily once she grows out of the puppy stage, another thing is since she’s not eating kibble her teeth will have plaque build up more easily than dogs eating kibble – to prevent her from having gum disease, losing her teeth early, you’ll want to brush her teeth periodically.

Well WEll your dog could live on it but he will not be healthy. best thing to do is mixing the dry dog food with it less ground beef and rice the dry dog food is better for your dog but if you mix it together he could have the best of both worlds and be healthy at 7 months he need the puppy food to be healthy!!!!!!!!!!!

Short answer-NO. The nutrients in beef and rice alone are inadequate to create a healthy dog. There are nutrient supplements that can be added to whole food diets to ensure that they are balanced. the ground beef COULD be ok, but special care must be taken to remove as much fat as possible. It would also be best to give your dog fresh or lightly steamed veggies as the nutrient quality is better than any processed supplement. look for books/websites that are credible (american veterinary association, etc) with information on whole food diets.

Not enough nutrients babe. Plus, people who do make their own dog food have got the percentages down to a healthy science. I made my own food for 2 years but I got the recipe directly from my breeder and it took commitment. I made a big batch to last for 2 months in the freezer. We have now switched to raw with hard kibble. This way it’s good for his teeth to eat crunchier things too!
    Cheers!
